In the Name of God Amen. William Hyland of the parish of Sedlescombe in the County of Sussex being in good Health of Body and of a Sound and perfect memory Praised be Almighty God for the same I Make and direct this my Last Will and Testament in Writing in manner and form following (that is to say) First and principally surrendering my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping through the Merits and Death and passion of my blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to receive Eternal Salvation And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried in the Churchyard of Sedlescombe at the Discretion of my Executors hereinafter Named And for touching and concerning my Worldly Estate which God in his infinite Glory hath bestowed upon me I Give Devise and Dispose thereof____ of as followeth First I Will that my Debts and Funeral Expenses and the Probate of this my Last Will and Testament be first paid and discharged Also I give and bequeath unto my Loving Brother Edward Snow (in our consideration for the Care and trouble he may have in the Execution of this my Last Will and Testament) the Sum of Five pounds Also I will and bequeath unto my Loving Daughter Elizabeth Hyland my dwelling house with the Land and premisses thereto belonging Now in the occupation of my said Daughter Elizabeth and Benjamin C___ Situate in the said parish of Sedlescomb to her and her Heirs forever Also my Mind and Will is that my other house Situate in Sedlescombe aforesaid and in the occupation of Samuel Alcock with the Ware house and Land and premisses thereto belonging should be sold (as soon as conveniently may be after my Decease) and the money and profit therefrom arising to be equally divided amongst all my Children which shall be then Living (that is to say) Elizabeth Hyland Lucy Hyland William Hyland Henry Hyland Thomas Hyland Thomas(sic) Hyland and Ann Hyland share and share alike Also I will and bequeath all the rest and residue of my Estate Goods and Chattels whatsoever and wheresoever to me belonging equally to be divided amongst all my Children aforesaid share and share alike Lastly I do make Constitute and appoint my aforesaid Loving Brother Edward Snow full and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and Annul all and every former Testament Will Devises Bequests and Executors by me in any wise before this time Promised Willed and bequeathed Ratifying and Affirming this and none other to be my Last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixth day of November in the Thirteenth year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Scotland King Defender of the faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty nine Will Hyland
Sealed signed published and declared by the above named Testator to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who witnessed the same in the said Testators presence Richard Hook X the Mark of Elizabeth Hook Isaac Gosthing
The Will of William Hyland of the parish of Sedlescombe within this Archdeaconry of Lewes was proved upon the Eleventh day of April One thousand seven hundred and forty six before the Reverend Mr. Edward Lund Clerk Surrogate and so forth upon the Oath of Edward Snow Executor in the said Will named to whom the administration of the Goods etc was Committed being first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and so forth
